A green roof wildflower seed mix with a high proportion of drought-tolerant flowers (85%) and just three slow-growing grasses (15%), which keeps maintenance light without losing colour. It suits lightweight, low-fertility roof substrates and includes stonecrops for resilience in dry spells. Sowing rate 2g/m²: 85% wildflowers (21 species), 15% grasses (3 species).
A diverse seed mix developed for biodiverse green roofs in urban and countryside settings. It contains 25 UK native wildflowers, grasses and sedum, chosen to help meet BREEAM biodiversity requirements.
Foraging plants such as viper’s bugloss and bird’s-foot trefoil have a long flowering period and attract bumblebees, while hoary plantain provides seed for birds. The mix suits lightweight, recycled crushed-brick green roof substrates. Because the substrate is low in fertility and dry, the sward should need very little maintenance beyond controlling pernicious weeds that arrive naturally, such as buddleia. The mix also includes stonecrops, which provide ground cover in drought and habitat for notable invertebrates.
Sow at 2g/m². The mix is 85% wildflowers (21 species) and 15% grasses (3 species).
All seeds in this mixture are subject to availability at the time of purchase.
