This is 100% common poppy seed (Papaver rhoeas), sold pure with no other species mixed in. Traditionally grown to mark Remembrance Day, it also works well as a quick splash of colour in a meadow gap or cottage garden border. Sow in autumn or spring onto bare, well-prepared soil.
This is 100% common poppy seed (Papaver rhoeas), with no other species mixed in. The poppy is widely recognised as a symbol of remembrance and hope, worn and grown each year to honour those who served in the armed forces, and many people sow poppy seed for that same reason: as a personal, visible mark of respect.
Poppy seed can be sown in autumn or spring. Scatter it generously and evenly over bare, well-prepared soil for the best chance of a full show the following summer. An autumn sowing can be topped up with a second sowing the following spring if you want denser cover.
This is a single species, not a mixture. As with all our seed, availability can vary at the time you place your order.
