BFS 11a – Coastal Floodplain Grassland Meadow Seed Mix

BFS 11a is a 20-species native wildflower and grass mix for coastal floodplain grazing marsh: the ground bordering brackish ditches and streams close to the coast, and the upper saltmarsh, where the land floods seasonally. It suits low to moderate diversity grassland and is commonly used to establish grazing marsh. The mix corresponds to NVC communities MG11 and MG12, and to the habitat of principal importance ‘coastal floodplain grazing marsh’.

Coastal grazing marsh keeps a short sward, which suits breeding lapwings, and the same ground gives wildfowl and waders somewhere to feed through winter.
