This mix includes the species found in Lowland Calcareous Grassland, a habitat of principal importance. These are low fertility grasslands, traditionally kept short by grazing cattle, sheep, horses or rabbits. Where grazing is not practical, 1 to 3 cuts a year, with a break during peak flowering, can maintain the sward instead.
The short turf and warm ground suit butterflies with ant associations, including the Adonis blue and Chalkhill blue, whose larvae feed on horseshoe vetch. Stonechat, Meadow Pipit and Skylark are among the birds found in this habitat.
All species in this mix are subject to availability at the time of purchase.
