BFS8(F) – High Nutrient Initial Establishment 100% Wildflower Mix
In stock
A 100% wildflower mix bred for high nutrient, fertile ground, where grass competition usually crowds out finer species. The 14 species included can grow tall in the sward or scramble up grass stems, including meadow vetchling, to hold their own. Sow at 1 to 2g per square metre. Species mix depends on seed availability at the time of purchase.
About BFS8(F) - High Nutrient Initial Establishment 100% Wildflower Mix
BFS8(F) is suited to sites with higher soil fertility, where vigorous grass growth would otherwise crowd out most wildflowers. The 14 species in this mix cope well in these conditions: some grow tall within the sward, while others, such as meadow vetchling, scramble up grass stems to reach the light.
It flowers over a long period and works well as a meadow wildlife habitat. During the initial 4 to 6 year establishment period, use regular low intensity grazing or mowing, and remove the cut material afterwards: this helps to reduce soil fertility over time. Once fertility has dropped, a higher diversity mix such as BFS 1 Traditional Hay Meadow Mix can be established instead.
Sow this mix at 1 to 2g per square metre. Wildflowers make up 50% of the mix, across 14 species.
