A wildflower-rich meadow mix for brownfield sites, with 80% flora against the 20% typical of a standard meadow mix. Left undisturbed, sites like this often develop into Open Mosaic Habitat on Previously Developed Land (OMHPDL), a habitat of principal importance that supports priority invertebrates and reptiles.
Brownfield land keeps coming under pressure from development, yet undeveloped sites can support Open Mosaic Habitat on Previously Developed Land (OMHPDL), a habitat of principal importance for priority invertebrates and reptiles. This brownfield site wildflower mix is designed to help recreate that habitat: 80% flora against the 20% you get in a standard meadow mix.
The mix suits a wide range of free-draining substrates, often of post-industrial origin. It combines ephemeral species that colonise bare ground with tall biennials that add structure to the sward. Perennial wildflowers and two grasses then establish the permanent meadow.
Sow at 3g/m². The mix is 80% wildflowers (20 species) and 20% grasses (2 species).
N.B: All seeds specified in this mixture are subject to availability at the time of purchase.
