Jute Netting
In stock
Jute netting is a 100% biodegradable, unbleached jute mesh for erosion control on slopes and embankments. It holds soil and seed in place while grass establishes. The mesh creates a sheltered microclimate that speeds up germination. It suits hydroseeding and revegetation work and is a cost-effective, well-established alternative to synthetic matting. Fixing pins are also available.

Jute netting is a 100% biodegradable, unbleached jute mesh used to stabilise soil on slopes and embankments while vegetation establishes. It remains one of the most widely used materials for temporary erosion control, largely because it costs less than synthetic matting and breaks down naturally once the sward has taken hold, leaving no plastic residue in the ground.
The open weave holds seed and topsoil in place and creates a sheltered microclimate at ground level, which speeds up germination and helps grass cover establish more reliably on exposed or sloping ground. It suits erosion control, hydroseeding and revegetation work, and fixing pins are also available for anchoring the netting into the ground.
Synthetic erosion mats can outperform jute where erosion forces are severe or vegetation is difficult to establish, so on the most demanding sites it is worth talking through the ground conditions with us before ordering. For typical embankments and cuttings, jute netting is usually the more practical and more sustainable choice.
