For general applications, prepare the soil by raking the top 25-50mm surface layer to a uniform finish, incorporating fertiliser and soil improver if specified. Apply the agreed seed mixture directly to the prepared soil. Dig a 150mm “V” trench at the top of the bank. Carefully unfold and roll out the blankets, ensuring close contact with the ground. Pin the blanket to the downward side of the “V” trench at 150mm centres and backfill with soil. Secure the blanket to the slope using suitable fixing pins, with a recommendation of 3 pins per . Overlap adjacent blankets and ends of rolls by 150mm where required, securing them with pins. To improve ground contact and seed germination, thinly case soil on the matting (5mm maximum cover) and cover all outside edges with soil.

For ditch and channel linings, follow the general application steps. Upstream ends of the blankets should be buried in a 300mm “V” trench and pinned at 150mm centres. Unfold and roll the blankets out along the length of the ditch, starting in the invert and working up the sides, overlapping end joints in the direction of flow by at least 150mm. Pin at 150mm centres. Overlap the length of the next blanket up the ditch over the lower blanket by at least 150mm and pin according to the pinning pattern. Extend the mats beyond the crest of the channel by approximately 300mm and secure by soiling or trenching along the entire length.

Storage: Geocoir™ rolls should be stored off the ground in a cool, dry space and covered.
