Roundup ProVantage is a systemic glyphosate herbicide for professional use. Sprayed onto green leaves, it moves through the plant’s vascular system and stops the amino acid production the plant needs to survive. About Roundup ProVantage 480 (5L)

Roundup ProVantage is a potassium salt formulation of 480g/L glyphosate, using a blend of two surfactants developed to work efficiently at the leaf surface and improve how much of the glyphosate the plant takes up. Sprayed onto green leaves, it moves through the plant’s vascular system and blocks the amino acid production the plant needs to build protein. Deprived of that protein, the plant dies rather than simply wilting.

The high concentration means less product and packaging is needed per hectare treated, which supports current glyphosate stewardship guidance on using less material for the same result. The formulation also performs reliably in dry weather, whether hot or cool, so you can make better use of narrow spraying windows.

Key benefits

  • Non-hazardous under COSHH classification, with no hazard symbol required for transport or storage, and approved for use in aquatic areas.
  • Low-drift formulation that reduces the risk of bystander exposure, damage to neighbouring plants and contamination of surface water.
  • Improved efficacy in hard water, so no additional water conditioners are needed.
  • Rainfast in 1 hour on annual weeds and 4 hours on perennial weeds. This reduces the risk of run-off and helps more glyphosate reach the roots.

Spray timing should flex with the weather. Apply the first spray once weeds have emerged and are actively growing; exactly when that happens will vary from year to year.

Other things worth knowing

  • Contains 480g/L glyphosate, which works by blocking the plant’s enzyme system.*
  • Glyphosate biodegrades in soil.
  • Approved for the control of Japanese Knotweed, applied as a foliar spray, stem fill, stem injection or by hand-held weed wiper.

* These enzymes are not present in humans, animals, birds or fish, so this mode of action does not affect them directly. Always check the current product label and safety data sheet before use.
