Eromat C-100-J Coir Erosion Control Blanket

Eromat C-100-J is an unseeded, 100% coir fibre erosion control blanket from Phoenix Amenity Supplies, built for freshly soiled embankments and slopes across the UK. Stitched with jute thread and jute netting over a 400g/m2 coir mat, it holds bare soil in place while an underseeded grass or wildflower mix establishes.

Installation guidance

For general applications, rake the top 25 to 50mm of soil to an even finish, working in fertiliser and soil improver if you are using them, then apply your chosen seed mixture directly to the prepared ground. Dig a 150mm V trench at the top of the bank. Roll out the blanket, keep it in close contact with the ground, and pin it to the downward side of the V trench at 150mm centres before backfilling.

Secure the blanket to the slope with fixing pins, at a rate of around 3 pins per m2. Overlap adjacent blankets and roll ends by 150mm where required and pin the overlaps. To improve ground contact and help seeds germinate, spread a thin layer of soil, no more than 5mm, over the matting and cover the outside edges with soil.

For ditch and channel linings, bury the upstream ends in a 300mm V trench and pin at 150mm centres. Roll the blanket along the ditch, starting at the invert and working up the sides, overlapping end joints by at least 150mm in the direction of flow and pinning at 150mm centres. Overlap the next blanket up the ditch over the lower one by at least 150mm, pinning in the same pattern. Extend the mat around 300mm beyond the channel crest and secure it by soiling or trenching along the full length.

Storage

Store Eromat rolls off the ground in a cool, dry, covered space. Stored this way, rolls can stay on site for around 21 days before use.
