Swan River daisy is a dainty annual of the daisy family, native not to Britain but to Western Australia, where it grows in open, often sandy country. It makes a low, bushy and sometimes sprawling plant with finely cut, almost thread-like leaves, smothered in small, fragrant daisy flowers.

Swan River daisy is a dainty annual of the daisy family, native not to Britain but to Western Australia, where it grows in open, often sandy country. It makes a low, bushy and sometimes sprawling plant with finely cut, almost thread-like leaves, smothered in small, fragrant daisy flowers. The slender ray florets range through mauve, blue, violet and white around a contrasting darker or yellow centre, and a well-grown plant can carry a profusion of bloom.
In British gardens it is grown as a half-hardy annual, sown under cover and planted out after frost, where it flowers freely through summer into early autumn in a warm, sunny position on light, well-drained soil. It copes happily with poor and sandy ground and is a favourite for containers, hanging baskets, edging and bedding. The open flowers are visited by bees and other pollinators, and it sometimes appears in colourful annual flower mixes.
